Good Goals
I encourage kids to read every day to build reading stamina and improve their reading skills.
I encourage kids to get plenty of sleep. We know that kids need 9-10 hours a night. Less than that makes it hard to learn, and hard to remember what you learned.
I encourage kids to exercise/play outside every day. We know that when kids are physically fit they are better learners.
All students in my reading and math classes can now practice on line, from home. I teach grade level math and Read 180 for kids who need a boost in reading.
For reading, kids should go to : www.kidsa-z.com/main/Login
Teacher username: s5th2 They should know their password picture. Click on the picture, then click go. Each story has a series of questions. Read carefully, and go back to dig for answers. I would like my reading students to read at least 20 minutes every night. This site is an option to achieve that goal.
If kids would like to continue their work with Read 180, they can click here, and log into Read 180 at home. When you come to the site, enter 55112 for our zip code, and then click on Mounds View Schools from the drop down menu. Then click Go. You will be prompted to log in with your username (ID number) and password (sunny621).
For math, kids should google:

You need a score of 80 to pass.
Most nights, except the last day of the week, students have a Study Link from Everyday Math as homework. If I do not have time to explain and do a demonstration for the homework assignment, it will not be assigned. That said, I make it a goal to get this done - and most nights kids will have an assignment. These should take about 10-15 minutes.
I will be using those sites for homework, so encourage your kids to be proactive.
Unit Studies: I am teaching The Age of Exploration, in addition to having kids read Treviso - an adventure story. Kids can answer questions to Treviso online, from home, through Google Classroom if they fall behind.
